this concept is inspired by the film annihilation (2018). In the movie, a team of female scientists and soldiers enter a mysterious zone on earth where everything — plants, animals, even people — has been biologically reshaped by an alien force called “the shimmer”. the government kept sending men in to investigate, but none of them made it out.

the shimmer acts like a living, mutating organism — a metaphorical cancer growing across the planet. What drew me to this story is how it explores transformation, femininity, and the connection between the natural world and the bodies that move through it.

for this shoot, the goal was to show how women and nature mirror each other: resilient, evolving, and deeply intertwined.
